The Ceciyaa Foundation is a non-profit organization which was formed in order to meet the need for basic food, clothing, and healthcare services among the poor and the disadvantaged women and children of Ghana. Ceciyaa is a multi-service community organization which fulfills its mission through dynamic programming that is responsive to the needs of the diverse communities it seeks to serve. The mission of the Ceciyaa Foundation is to create a nurturing, stable, and healthy family environment which encourages and empowers women to initiate, attain and master the personal and social changes which are necessary to help fight ignorance, hunger, sickness and disease, in order to become effective contributing participants in the progressive development of their communities. The foundation values the expansion of opportunities and the enhancement of quality of life for the women and children of Ghana and seeks to empower these women and their families to initiate those necessary changes.Ceciyaa will accomplish its goals through a variety of programs, including a character education and training program for children to include a childcare and learning development center; The Children’s Closet which will provide free clean clothing to children as well as women, and a preventative and women’s health initiative which will include the construction of the Ceeiyaa Women’s Health Services Center (CWHSC), in Dabaah, Kumasi, Ghana. It is the foundation’s desire to collaborate with municipal and regional governments, local community leaders, business leaders and churches in order to best identify the most critical areas of need as well as the most effective plan of action for meeting its specific goals. Francis Aduoffei founded the Ceciyaa Foundation out of his great desire to see change in the lives of the people of his home country, Ghana. His first-hand knowledge of the plight of the women and children of Ghana fired the vision for Ceciyaa and came in great part as he considered how he could affect change using the abundant resources-- human and natural in most communities in Ghana along with the generosity and willingness of the American people. Mr. Aduoffei, who currently serves as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, knows what it means to have inadequate food, clothing, and healthcare services. As a child in Ghana, he watched his mother as she struggled to help her community overcome these obstacles and how she eventually lost her life in service to others and without the benefit of proper diagnosis and medical treatment. Of his mother, he says, “She shared the family’s food with the entire community and fed countless children at our school, without asking anything in return. She never profited from her business, because she loaned money to those in need and always forgave their debts when they couldn’t pay. Late in her life, though she was ill, she sacrificed her own comfort, and used monies I sent her from America to care for her ailing father and others in her village. Her name was Ceciyaa and the foundation is named in her honor. ”

Current Ceciyaa Projects

The following are some of our current projects which are either already in progress, or which have been approved and are awaiting start dates.

The Children's Closet- This program collects new and gently used clothing to be given to men, women and children. The program was birthed as Ceciyaa's founder noticed how many people in rural areas of Ghana were without adequate clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene necessities. In order to meet that need, the program not only accepts clothing and shoes, but diapers, hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, and medical equipment as well.

Women's Health Initiative- This proram includes the construction of the Ceciyaa Women's Health Services & Childcare Center. Building materials and land have already been purchased and donated to Ceciyaa to construct the center, which will be located in Dubaah-Kumasi, Ghana. Free initial health screening and registration at the clinic will be made available to all of the women in the surrounding area in order to establish medical records for them and then ongoing free preventative care, diagnosis and treatment will be available, along with childcare services which will enable women to seek and find employment without worrying about their children.

Ceciyaa Vocational Training & Continuing Education Program- This program will offer vocational training courses in sewing, beauty school, baking, carpentry, and tie & dye which is a method used in the making of traditional African dress. We already have instructors in place for several of these areas of study. On the continuing education side, adult education will offer adults the opportunity to return to school in order to gain skills which will allow them to either find jobs or start their own businesses.

Leadership Initiative- This program will bring various public speakers into rural areas to speak to the communities on a variety of current issues in order to bring encouragement to the people by offering examples of those who have become achievers.

Ceciyaa Care Kit Program- This program is very special and is close to our founder's hear. This program will benefit the Kibi School for the Deaf and the Akroponj School for the Blind. Kibi is the city where Francis was born, and he was an instructor at the School for the Deaf shortly before coming to the United States. The program will give bags filled with personal hygiene products, towels, bath sponges, socks, etc. to the students at these two schools.

The Water Well Project- One of the main causes of sickness and disease in many rural communities in Ghana is the lack of clean drinking water. The Water Well Project gives donors in America the opportunity to join in the fight against the spread of disease by building water wells in rural communities. $750 covers the cost, including materials and labor, of building one well. The cost is so small when compared to the lives which will be saved and or changed by just one well.

The Evangelical Initiative- All that we, at Ceciyaa Foundation, seek to accomplish, is pursued with one goal which overshadows and outweighs all others. That goal is that the gospel of Jesus Christ may be spread among the people of Ghana. We have adopted this bold, broad mission as a means to change the way the gospel is preached. We don't want to just preach and teach the word, but we want to reach with the word, as the hands of Jesus Christ in the earth, to truly touch the nation of Ghana at the point of its great need.

You have read, in earlier posts, what we want to do, now you know how we are already at work in Ghana, please prayerfully consider joining our efforts today! Email us at ceciyaafoundation@gmail.com, to find out how you can help.
