After months and months of collecting donated clothing, shoes, braille materials, hygiene supplies and medical supplies and equipment, the Ceciyaa Foundation shipped its first 40 foot container to Tema, Ghana on April 24, 2010. The container arrived in Tema on June 16th and after a bit of paperwork and clearance time, was cleared to leave the ship.
Our team on the ground in Ghana then unloaded the container, dividing out the medical supplies, braille textbooks and Ceciyaa Care Kits from the rest of the items. The medical supplies, braille textbooks and Care Kits were picked up by representatives from the hospitals and schools they were intended for and then the remaining items were loaded onto trucks and delivered to Kumasi, about three hours away. Once there the community came out in full force to assist with the unloading and storage of the items.
Many people are being blessed by receiving new clothing, shoes, diaper, and toys!
We are extremely excited and grateful for all of the support we have received in order to make this happen. Without the countless hours of work by our volunteers, we certainly could not have done it!
We have already begun planning the shipment of our second container of donated items in September, 2010. If you would like to get involved, please contact us at ceciyaafoundation@gmail.com or visit our website at www.ceciyaafoundation.com

Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Donates Braille Books!
The Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Austin, TX has made a donation to the Ceciyaa Foundation! The books and materials which have been donated are for elementary and middle school students and will be given to the Akropong School for the Blind on behalf of the TSBVI. The materials are expected to leave the states for Ghana at the end of April, 2010.
Ceciyaa Foundation boardmember, Hunter Smith, has been in contact with several members of the TSBVI staff, including Jim Durkel, Susan Mattson, and Diane Nousanen in order to facilitate a series of donations of retired materials to the Akropong School.
Ceciyaa Foundation is working to establish a relationship between the two schools that will allow the school in Akropong to receive much needed braille textbooks and other materials for the new library which is being constructed on the campus.
Ceciyaa thanks the TSBVI on behalf of the Akropong School for the Blind for their generosity!

Christmas Meditations
As I sit here, tonight, surrounded by my children and family, I am full of the joy and satisfaction that comes from having my loved ones near at Christmastime. I am keenly aware of the blessings of God and how thoroughly and completely He has enveloped me in his provision, grace and mercy. But even as Christmas Eve turns to Christmas Morning, I am unable to sleep. Amid all of this bliss, my heart is aware of a deep longing within...
My longing is to see all of the children of Ghana as happy and contented, as well-fed, clothed and cared for as my own daughters. My longing is to see all of the women of Ghana have the opportunity to be well-educated with access to the basic healthcare that I have, and more often than not, take for granted. My longing is to see the deaf, the blind, the disabled cared for as the beautiful creations of God that they are. No child should ever be abandoned. My longing is to give the poor and disadvantaged people of Ghana more than a donation that allows me to forget about them until this time next year. My longing is that the people of Ghana, all of the people of Ghana, would come to know the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ as it is displayed to them through my giving, and yours. My longing is that, when I stand be for the King, it will be as it was according to Matthew 25: 34-36:
"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, 'Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; Naked and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me."
I want to pour my life out before God as an offering and a sacrifice and in my heart, the longing that will not be silenced, whispers to me... "Ghana"
